Top-ranked Snowboarder Kevin Pearce Suffers Critical Injury

Many of you have undoubtedly heard the name Kevin Pearce who is one the top professional snowboarders this decade, so it saddens me to write that Kevin is in critical condition after suffering a severe brain injury during a training accident. His doctor says he has not yet needed surgery, but they will need to carefully watch for any swelling in his brain. Unfortunately, Kevin has a long recovery ahead of him and I wish him and his family the best.

Pearce sustained the injury on Thursday as he was preparing for next week’s Olympic qualifiers. His spokeswoman said he caught  edge while completing a twisting double black flip and landed on his head. Luckily, he was wearing a helmet otherwise the injury would have been far worse. Along with Shaun White, Kevin Pearce is one of the best halfpipe riders out there.
