Further to this note, I took my buddy yesterday to snowboard for the first time. I got him a 2 hour lesson and then I personally spent another 2 hours with him post lesson. He thought the lesson was definitely a good idea to start off with followed by having a friend show him around as well.

@jon
man, it's two opposing opinions on the same issue.

Rami, as a snowboarder has the opinion that you can learn snowboarding quite happily without lessons.

Dave, or me, as a snowboard instructor, is giving my opinion on the opposite side of the arguement.

I think that people should take lessons because I can help people learn quicker than they would on their own.

You've obviously just scanned the article and have jumped to a conclusion.

I can see how the two seem contradictory but really in my previous post about not paying for lessons, I am alluding to the fact that you DONT NEED to take lessons with instructors to pick up snowboarding. A lot of people are under the impression that they should take snowboarding lessons (that are rather costly) in order to pick up the sport, but in reality that's not the case. To motivate people who don't want to take/pay for lessons, I put up that article.

In this article, Dave is simply pointing out 5 good reasons to take snowboard lessons and is aimed at those considering lessons but are not sure about the benefits.

Hope that clears things up.
